May Construction Update

Dear Members,

Due to an unforeseen issue with water pressure and resulting hydrostatic pressure behind the walls of the new diving well, our contractor was required to pause all progress. All efforts stopped while the team addressed the problem properly. This involved removing backfill, excavating the affected area and repairing the damage. The team is now installing additional drains and sump pumps to permanently resolve the drainage issue.

While this is certainly disappointing, we are fortunate that the issue arose before the pool deck concrete was poured. Addressing it at this stage ultimately saved both time, funds and reduced the overall scope of the repair.

Our previous pool served generations of members, and we are committed to ensuring this new pool is constructed with the same care, quality and long‑term durability. Taking the time to address this issue correctly now helps ensure the finished pool will provide many seasons of enjoyment for years to come.

Unfortunately, these necessary repairs have delayed the schedule for pouring the pool deck and completing the diving platform. As a result, the pool will open one week later than planned, on Saturday, May 30.

We understand this is a disappointment and to help offset this delay, we will keep the pool open for an additional weekend following Labor Day, extending the season for everyone to enjoy.

We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this unexpected delay. Swim team planning has been fully accounted for, and those specific updates and details will be communicated separately. We look forward to opening the pool soon and sharing another great summer together.

Warm regards,
Your FHSC Board
